2004 Journeys in Islington cont'd
The collaged cityscape is of repetition of terrace housing common to the area using photocopies from my photographs. The text is a conversation but this time I am one of the speakers. We talked of ‘a stabbing’ but all it meant to me, someone now adapted to London life, was how it affected my travel plans for the day.
A layer of text upon a simplified image of a man at a football stadium, is painted on collaged newspaper reports about Arsenal. It tells a story of my husband, also a Kiwi, and his love of the Arsenal football club, hence the colours, and is an investigation into the sense of belonging and the adoption of local culture.
